He never played in game 7 why is he the mvp? Rendon should be the mvp

Yes, I can see that. Rendon had 2 home runs and 8 RBIs. But Strasburg was the only pitcher with 2 wins, and we were absolute toast without him doing that. He saved the bullpen, which made other wins possible.

Tough call for the voters. Good choice. He was great all post season. Well the whole season really.

You could flip a coin between Stras and Rendon.  Bottom line is that this is very well deserved.  St. Stephen was a savior.

Steven deservedly won the MVP. He went 5-0 in the post -season. He has undergone a tranformation as a "thrower" to a crafty pitcher who performed magic before a world wide audience. He was truly our ACE and deserves to pitch on OD in 2020. His growth as a person this season was something to behold . He transitioned from a quiet solitary person to become one of the boys. The Hispanic players brought him out of his shell and I think he embraced it. I hope that when he opts out the Lerners will re-negotiate a fair and equitable contract.

I'm dying for any updates on the opt-out, but it's been complete silence, even on speculation.  He has a 3-day window after the WS, right?  So, that would mean today through Saturday?  Maybe they'll announce a new deal (e.g., 5 years/$150M) at the parade?

Hopefully if they can’t agree before the opt out deadline, I bet they both agree to extend until after the parade.

He will sign similar to the greinke deal. 6 years 206.5 million

that might be a good market rate comparable.  He's better than Greinke, but he may be inclined to give a slight "discount" to the Nats and not seek more due to comfort.

I think his biggest transformation is he stopped making perfection the enemy of bad-ass excellence.

Speculation seems to be that he will in fact opt out.  : (   I've been hoping for a pre-opt out extension/sweetening of the current deal.

It's a no-brainer, he'll be able to increase the annual value and add years.  I just don't think there was enough time to work something out prior.  I'm still confident he'll get something done and in fairly short order.  Boras reps him, but Stras doesn't want some circus.

It's past the deadline and there's zero news about him opting out. I wonder if that means he and the team agreed to extend the deadline until after the parade and he opts out at say, six PM tonight or something? I fully believe he'll be our guy again next season, but the lack of news is just ... not expected.

Most likely. Of course if he did opt out it would be in bad taste to announce before the parade.

Wasn’t it 72 hours after last out?  That would be late tonight.

Opt-out deadline: 3 days after the World Series

https://www.mlb.com/news/stephen-strasburg-j-d-martinez-aroldis-chapman-opt-out-deadline

Multiple executives believe Strasburg and the Nationals will come to terms on a restructured deal before the opt-out date, though that means it must happen within 72 hours of the conclusion of the World Series...

Article I read said he had to opt out by noon today, two hours before the parade started. However, they also noted that Kershaw and the Dodgers mutually agreed to extend that period a couple of years ago to avoid awkward timing. Opt outs in contracts are not the same as contract over, free agency.

The National’s Stephen Strasburg will opt out of his contract. Don’t get excited Sox fans, nobody in baseball deals better with Scott Boras than Mike Rizzo. I predict Strasburg opts out and signs a long term deal with the only team he’s ever played on, the Washington Nationals

I have no idea who Steve Stone is

Didn’t he go 25-5 one year for the O’s?

Anyone with a brain knew stras was opting out. The problem is how much is being paid? 30x6 is a good number I believe. 80 million more are retire a nat.
