The first scheduled doubleheader at Wrigley Field in 31 years, and the Chicago Cubs will be facing the same franchise that they did then. Chicago's game scheduled for Sunday against the Washington Nationals was moved to Saturday as part of a day-night doubleheader after an offseason request by Alderman Tom Tunney, who was concerned about neighborhood traffic at the annual Pride Parade. It is the first scheduled twinbill at Wrigley since July 4, 1983, against the Montreal Expos.

Gio Gonzalez's first two starts against the Cubs came at Wrigley, and he went 0-1 with a 10.38 ERA. His last two matchups were in Washington, where he went 1-0 and didn't allow a run while giving up five hits and striking out 15 in 14 innings. Dallas Beeler was called up from Triple-A Iowa to make his major league debut. The right-hander, a 41st-round pick in 2010, was 5-3 with a 4.03 ERA in 10 starts for Iowa.

9-pitch inning for Gio.  The Cubs rookie has been mediocre in the minors.

It really, really would have been nice if Rizzo had made a contract offer to Suzuki.

What did FP say?

That championship-caliber teams should destroy last place teams, he sees no step-on-the-throat mentality from this team.

He said that in the post game yesterday.  I'm surprised they didn't Dibble him.
