Nationals @ Marlins, Game 3

Nationals PR ‏@NationalsPR 1m
Davy's Lineup, Sun. @ MIA/G94: Harper lf, Rendon 2b, Zimmerman 3b, LaRoche 1b, Werth rf, Desmond ss, Span cf, Ramos c, Jordan rhp.

Why is he insistent on Ramos batting 8th?? Span 7 :spaz: Better than leadoff I guess.

Gotta have Werth higher.  Need as many ABs out of him as possible.  OUr best power guy leading off?  This is bullcrap, total bullcrap.  Davey's a moron.

2nd clean-up man

That might make sense if the entire line up was consistently getting on base.

Didn't someone predict that Harper would be benched today? Lol

It SHOULD be either or these:

Werth
Rendon
Harper
Zimm
Laroche
Desi
Span
Ramos

Yep.  Me.  And imo he should be.  He was selfish and hurt the team.

Benching Harper makes sense if this team had any depth, that would send a message that we can get by without him, but as it stands benching him would only strengthen his position that he is critical to the team and therefore he makes his own rules.

Next thing Davey will have the pitcher batting 8th and the offense will still stink.

And Davey, this doesn't mean your job is done...unless you plan on resigning so your job will actually be done.

Otherwise, don't settle for this as the "right" lineup even if, unlikely, it works out today.  The lineup needs to be constantly evaluated and frequently changed.

Except for Span, keep him as far away from leadoff as possible.  Whatever lineup you put together, he should never leadoff.  His skillset is smaller than Nyjer Morgan's was.

what is Harper's OBP right now compared to Span's? just curious.

edit: Harper: .372 to Span: .313

Harper has the highest OBP on the team, so leading him off makes sense in that regard

Harper has the highest OBP on the team, .372.  Span is .313, the lowest of a regular position player on the team.

I like Span at 7 followed by Ramos.  I like having a couple of guys in front of the pitcher, with the power threat immediately in front of him, that you have to pitch to.

I'm leaning towards taking the kids to see Despicable Me.  This team is coasting their way into the break.

At this point, Rendon and Werth are kind of interchangeable in my mind offensively.  I kind of prefer at the top of the order and Rendon lower, but it does not make much of a difference.  I'm still a believer in batting your top OPS guys #2, #4, and #1, so I want Harper near the top, too.  I'd kind of prefer Werth - harper - Desi - RZ - ALR - Rendon - Ramos - Span, but think this order is close to right.

Desi 3d because his OPS is good and SLG heavy, RZ 4th because he's a better OBP guy with good power.

Span vs. RHP - .297/.353/.413/.766

Should still be leading off against RHP. Needs to be sent to 7th/8th against lefties.
