LOL at Corbin actually being replaced at the rotation.  He's been paid, so he's going to play, that's the Mini Me way.  Sunshine - less than one season to go on his contract.

Corbin has been paid, but that is no reason to let him pitch, and even less to have him start. The Nats cannot get the money back, but they can limit the damage he does.

That is not how Mini Me thinks.  The deal's been done, he's going to get all he can out of the guy, even if all he gets is an 8 ERA.  Pretty sure there's a sign in the South Capitol St exec offices that says "I paid you, so now I'm playing you".

Back to sunshine...starters not named Corbin have looked better the last few games

From the #Nats:  Mitchell Parker became the 5th MLB pitcher to strikeout at least 12 hitters & not issue a walk in the first 2 games of his career. He joins Shota Imanaga, Tanner Bibee, Johnny Cueto and Andy Sonnanstine. On top of that, Parker is the 1st Nats pitcher w/ 7 scoreless innings under 75 pitches.

If Wood make sit to the majors and actually hits, my excitement level will be where it was in 2011 when it just felt like huge things were around the corner.

Team OPS is .696, 16th of 30, in spite of being 2nd to last in the NL in runs scored.  Reason for that is a very unlucky .632 OPS with RISP...that will likely turn around.

OPS doesn't figure in the steals. Those help too. A good chunk of the team turns singles and walks into doubles. Abrams, Thomas, Young, even Winker and Garcia.

I guess it would not fully account for sacrifice flies either?

I also think OPS double counts, since OBP and SLG both include the same hits. I've seen an argument somewhere, though, maybe by Mike Elias, as to how the measure can be valued.

A few years back, I tried to come up with my own metric - productive plate appearances - that would account for hits, XBH, walks, sacrifices, steals, etc., but it just came across as too complicated. I also wasn't sure whether/how to account for especially unproductive PAs like a GIDP.

Closest to what you're looking for would be wOBA, though that doesn't take into account GIDP, sac flies, or base running.

Padres have an E(guy) Rosario also. His OPS is .931.  Maybe we could pull a switcheroo.

Trade for Esteury Ruiz from Oakland. Then have all the steals

If they would just play a bit better at home they would be having a good season. Any idea why they play better on the road?

We don't have to listen to John Buccigras doing any more Caps coverage this season!
