Hey LAC gang, are the other GMs still jealous of the Marlins franchise?
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/So they traded Buehrle, Johnson, Bonificio, and Jose Reyes. Good chance they finish with 50 wins this year. Maybe we can even beat them sometime too
It's all about profit sharing. You don't put enough butts in the seats with a looser, you get more money from the Yankees... I think we should just start calling them the Southern Pirates.
At least the Pirates try to work with what they have, despite the dysfunction. The Marlins don't care.
Eerily simlar FIP, IP, and wins. Also, Nolasco was steady throughout the season. Edwin Jackson was marginal the second half.
I recall that we had interest in Nolasco several years ago. Perhaps Rizzo would like to revisit that.
I'd rather put Lannan back in the rotation than trade for Nolasco. Nolasco's an average pitcher who's going to make $11.5 mil next season. Not worth it, IMO.
JIM BOWDEN @JimBowdenESPNxmOne GM who inquired on Giancarlo Stanton was told that they were NOT going to trade him PERIOD
MLB needs to do something about the Marlins. Either franchise them or rip the team away from Loria. This is awful for the sport.
and at everyone looking forward to The Franchise covering the Marlins. Maybe they'll cover a real team next season, but after this I wouldn't be surprised if they don't do another season.
I was just thinking that we may be getting ahead of ourselves in speculating about getting Stanton, but I don't think we are. He's a pissed off star who will soon be getting very wealthy in arbitration. The Fish won't be competitive for years, if ever again, so they might as well deal him for more guys who might be around at a lower salary in a few years. It may seem nuts, but this really could freaking happen. It'll require a lot to get done, but it could create the best young core of players we've seen in baseball in years.
Is he a supertwo?
Not according to http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/10/super-two-cutoff-to-be-2139.html
