His helmet looks several sizes too big. Also, what the heck stadium is that that opens up to a random field?

The helmet is the one all MILB players wear for safety reasons.

Harper 2 for 3 with a HR. Maybe this is the beginning of "I've got it now". Haven't see break-down against LHP and RHP.

(Not so encouraging news from Corey Brown and Tyler Moor, though.)

http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/7853942/bryce-harper-dellin-betances-other-top-prospects-slow-starts-mlb

Quote
Bryce Harper, OF, Washington Nationals

Entering 2012: Arguably the best prospect, and certainly the most hyped, Nationals manager Davey Johnson lobbied to break camp with Harper in the big leagues, but it was ultimately agreed upon that the outfielder would begin the year at Triple-A with the expectation of hitting the big leagues before his 20th birthday.

The situation: It took 16 games for Harper to finally connect on his first home run of the season, and after 17 games, he's hitting just .234/.300/.375.

Why it's not a big deal: He's 19, folks. Nineteen. There are players older than him who are off to good starts that have fans excited, but they are playing three levels below Harper. The fact he's merely holding his own at Triple-A is a tribute to his remarkable talent, and he's a player with a history of initial struggles at new levels.

Why you should be concerned: Harper has struggled against Triple-A veterans who can hit their spots while delivering him a steady diet of off-speed stuff, especially left-handers -- against whom he's hitting just .190. Some of his struggles have come from pressing and over-swinging, as at times he seems to be trying to hit three home runs per at-bat.

he's had a good night tonight.  he missed a homer by inches.  also seen him draw a walk, place a hard hit single to left and should've been called safe on a stolen base attempt.

"he's 19" being the most important point in that article.

It's still hard for me to wrap my head around that top prospects are now younger than me.

again, i'm really impressed with Harper the last couple games ... playing some good baseball.  just worked a long count to draw a walk in extra innings.

Yup just watched the at-bat.  Good eye.  Fouled off some tough pitches and one I thought he could have jacked.  1-3 with a run scored so far today.

he just looks so much more comfortable in recent games than he did in the first week.  the progress may not be eye-popping in box scores, but if you watch him, you can tell he's playing some good baseball.

I still think this guy by 2014 may be a super star. He has uber power and has shown flashes of nasty.

I don't know what all the fuss was about in the first place, or why people were so quick to jump on the Nats for not sending him to AA. A 9/14 BB/K ratio in 82 plate appearances is hardly indicative of a guy who can't hang.

Nice to see Tyler Moore keeping his walk rate above 10% of PA as well. That's a vast improvement.
