Crews weakness isn’t hitting heat. What a hack take by Longenhagen. Crews has been off/on injured and hasn’t got into a groove yet. He’s struggling yeah but it’s a slump. Crews will adjust and rebound bigly. Not concerned. And he loves baseball. He isn’t another Rendon just going through the motions doing what it takes to collect a pay check.
Pay it no mind. Everyone has some weakness. These guys like to qualify everything. Gives them a chance to say I told you so if something goes wrong later.

The Nats have players to win more than they have against Chicago, Boston, and Minneapolis. Time to be serious:

- DFA Robles, with cheers if he ever fulfills his promise, even with another team

- DFA Gallo to oblivion

- DFA Rainey to Rochester, in hopes that he, somehow, regains some of his power and gains control

- Send Nunez back to Miami. He is useless.

Welcome James Wood to replace Robles; welcome Lane Thomas to replace Gallo; Trey Lipscomb to replace Nunez. And Darren Baker next up as the Nats give up on Senzel.

Look toward Cavalli getting to start and look toward putting Corbin someplace where he cannot hurt the team. Gray or Corbin? Neither is that good.

He has stood up. Time to dump Joey Gallo, who was a mistake.

Elian Soto (Juan’s brother) promoted from the DSL to FCL
This is like drafting Bronny.

Longenhagen has Crews #10 on his updated top 100 for Fangraphs. He believes Crews has problems with heat and cannot pull hard inside stuff.

You went back and forth with me on why Wood needed more time in AAA, and now you say AAA is worthless?  Make it make sense.
I actually said Wood needed more time in Double A.

I think maybe the only question with no internal option is 1B. I think Wood and Crews both are likelies, so Young can play CF and Thomas DH if Hassell is not ready. Lipscomb is a nice option for 3rd if House is not ready. Catcher will stink, but that spot looks filled. There's no internal option for 1st. Lucky there's almost always short term FAs available to sign

Rotation? There's potential to fill all 5 slots with internal players. I'd explore the FA market for an older #2 and see what we can get, but it is not imperative

OF will be

- Young CF
- Thomas RF
- Wood LF

- Crews and Hassell promoted early and Thomas traded at the deadline.

This losing run is probably best in that now the Nats can operate in reality versus having an eye toward the standings.

I’m on record now as I have no desire for the Nationals to make a Soto run. He will be ultra expensive and he’s more DH than LF.

I want the Nats to invest in a clear cut front of the rotation starter and a DH who can be a league average bat at the spot. Otherwise, I’m happy with the infield and outfield options.

But I don’t know if Nats are going to spend or take another offseason in limbo…

I’d be ok with the spending being spending Corbin’s salary coming off the books on 1B/DH and maybe a short-term contract on a vet SP that’s not commanding a mega long-term deal.
