Mock rebounded nicely tonight in Columbus and picked up the win. 7.2 IP 7 H 4 R 3 ER 1 BB 7 K (91 pitches, 64 strikes)

That's one of the longest outings of the season for a Nats minor leaguer.

Well its probably the same pitch total as they usually get...

We should probably let him make his way slowly and not rush him. 2010 sounds good.
2010? He's already 24. He could be ready to go by next season.

Or Belliard to 2nd, Young at 1st, Casto at 3rd and WMP in left.

I'd rather Young be the DH.

OK we get the message. I'm getting confused with all these possibilities.

That's the sort of outing I find encouraging. One out shy of 8 innings, big boy outing.

Damn that works too. But maybe Casto isn't ready to play the field.

He lost someone special recently?

Before this season, Pena was averaging an HR every 19 or so ABs. This year, he is averaging an HR once every 144 ABs ;)

I agree, but WHAT IF (and this is purely hypothetical) Alaniz continues to dominate, like he did in Potomac, at Harrisburg?  How long can we keep in the minors in that scenario... maybe until next year?

Best thing to do in those situations is jump right back into the pool, IMO.

Where does Casto's power go when he comes up to the majors?

I'm not adverse to that idea. I just want to make sure with young players, especially pitchers.

Definitely. Soon enough he'll realize there are better positions out there.

Clippard is falling behind too much tonight.  He's begging for trouble.

That 2-1 pitch to Sexson should have been a strike.

Good inning. Clippard is throwing strikes. That's key.

Come on offense, don't take the rest of the night off like you did last night after the second inning.

Clippard is at 26 pitches so far, considerably better than his last outing at this point...

They can take the rest of the night off once they get to 7 runs. I think that'll work tonight.

Why is Pena still on this team in playing?  The guy is worthless
