Juice squeezed for the last time: OJ Simpson at 76. Apparently, he never found the real killer, either.

One of the most iconic people in US history, not going to shed any tears for him.  And whenever I think of him, I will think of the greatest prank phone call ever.

Did you see Al Michaels when he went on Stern to discuss the call? He talked about how he knew pretty much right away, from the tone of the guy's voice, that it was a prank call but he was in a different location and had no way to let ABC or Peter Jennings know that the call was a fake, so he just rode it out until the end when he was able to finally jump in.

In a later interview he said:

Quote
This is the whole country watching a prank call on network television. In any conversation of great prank calls, it is in the conversation. People know me from a hockey game, from an earthquake, from the O.J chase. The fact that I have done multiple Olympics, eight World Series, eight Super Bowls and a ninth coming this year, is kind of shoved off to the side. It is a hockey game, an earthquake and the O.J. case (laughs). I was trying to parse so carefully what I was saying that when the prank call was over I used words like “lest” and “farcical.' I love being in New York because there’s always fans yelling to me that “It’s totally farcical, Al!”

97. Friends with Jackie Robinson instantly. Grew up in an integrated town and high school in Indiana, so was comfortable in integrated settings and with mulit-racial friends. Later, when his 4th child was born with Downs Syndrome, he and his wife raised her at home. Ethel Kennedy reached out to him to lead the special olympics in Indiana.

Whitey came up with the Nats in 1956. Did not hit much, and Calvin Griffith pushed him along to the Kansas City A's.

from about 10 years ago.

Blue Sky is one of my favorites. I find it interesting that it was a staple of two bands after Dickie was booted from the ABB. This is his version. I've got to dig up Warren Haynes's with the ABB.

Of course, the Duane / Dickie version is the classic, but does anyone have another interesting version?

Not his song but a great acoustic solo at the end of this. Trivia:  the last night of the Dennis Miller show.
