Return of the hitters.

Except ERA for starters is down.

I heard that strikeouts are way up, can't find a source though.

I think it might have something to do with the abnormally warm weather in April. Lot more fly balls are turning into homers. Relievers are still settling in and getting comfortable and they're seeing normal fly ball outs turn into hits and runs. I mean like the graphic posted on twitter that someone posted above, it seems to be a league wide issue, not just for us.
Then what the freak are we gonna do in July?

I thought it was mostly walks that were the issue, but I could be mind-facting.

Relievers have single digit innings to their credit right now.  1 pitch missing it's spot can drastically alter your ERA.  Numbers can easily look crooked right now.  You need to give it more time to level out.

The Cubs are 6-7 and their bullpen has blown 4 saves. I think that we should let this play out a little more.

Early on it's been a disaster but it's only been 11 games. Solis, Kelley, Glover, and Treinen were all around last year when we had second best pen in NL. Blanton coming off a big season. I still trust last year's 162 game sample more than the 11 game sample.

It'll improve a bit. And if needed they'll do what they did last season and add at the deadline.
I still stand by this post after their Easter meltdown.

Gotta think the Royals go full reset by the end of the year. Herrera might be available.

Don't think we'll want him.

He'll be fine. He's one I'd consider going after without much hesitation.

Solis makes me very nervous. When he falls behind he seems to blow things in a huge way. I don't think he can recover from his mistakes, sort of like Treinen last night when he loaded the bases. He fell way way behind and couldn't make anything right. Thankfully Dusty pulled him and Kelly was able to save things.

He gave up one hit, right? Then got to 3-0 on another guy, IIRC. But he ended up getting him to pop out, struck out a guy. We're overly anxious about the pen right now. I'm not overly concerned about Solis.

I want a big trade for two padres relievers, one of which needs to be brad band.  And a legit bullpen ace would be nice too

Is the 9th inning of an April baseball game really more stressful than the 6th or 7th inning in October.  How can we trust Blake in the playoffs?

It's pretty stressful when you're new in the job and the whole city is watching. And you know youre on a short leash. And you read about your failures in the paper. I think that's pretty stressful.

Solis to DL. However, Drew Storen pitched a nine-pitch, 3K inning for the Reds. Maybe he's available for the regular season?
