I wouldn't give up on Crews, but it's also not clear the org is adjusting his development process to his strengths, rather than trying to push him into a process that favors contact hitters.
I have not given up on Crews, either. And I don't know how the entire organization teaches hitting. I remember when Ted Williams took over the Expansion Senators. Ted's first sentence to Frank Howard: "Can you take a pitch?" He challenged Howard to wait for a good pitch, and to make contact. Big Frank hit .296 that year, with 48 home runs. If James Wood, also thought to be too tall to play baseball, hits like Howard we will all jump and cheer.
Who is Dylan Crews, though? I hope he is a 25 homer guy who hits near .300. My favorite CF: Bernie Williams. (As Casey Stengel used to say, "You can look him up")
