Mendoza's career average was .215.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mendoza_Line

George Brett said the Mendoza line was .210. You gonna argue with George Brett about hitting.

I don't know why he took that one of all those pitches, but still put Espinosa's at-bat to shame.

George also thought pine tar on the barrel was legal.

Wiki is never wrong. After all it is on the Internet.

Don't think I have seen a lineup where they just went around the diamond since little league.

Can't remember the last time I saw a lineup without a 1st baseman

George was right about the pine tar, too. They did replay the game after all. And Billy Martin is a douche.

The umps always suck. It's a given. The worst part of the sport. They need robots back there.
Why not just use the rectangle used in the pitch tracker?

Maybe the thread starter believed that Zimmerman was back. :?

It's a little more complicated than that, but the technology is there. Put a buzzer in the umps ear and let him pretend he's calling it.

I copied a Chelsea Jane tweet about the lineup, so I'm passing the buck to her. But it kind of fits, we've been playing without a first basemen basically the whole season.
