CNN’s show on the history of Jerusalem has been fascinating.

So apparently it’s going to be Mike Richards. The executive producer.

What do we think of Levar Burton on Jeopardy? I think he’s just meh.

I wanted it to be him, but he was just too excitable.  Not sure if nerves, overcompensating or what, but I wish he'd had another week to work it out (not sure why he got short-changed)

However, I hate the current champ.

Alright I have to know - why?

BORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRING.

But maybe that's the best thing at this point.  There wasn't anyone else i really saw in the role except Ken.  Certainly this guy is better than any of the carnival of talking head puppets they trotted out.  (Relatively) neutral aspirants blew it by being too sleepy (Rodgers) or too zany (Bialik, Burton).

I'm not sure there was ever any serious consideration given to (or desired by) more than 2-3 people anyway.  Richards wins by virtue of being completely unknown to anyone, and therefore having no baggage.  People just know he worked with Alex for years and that's probably enough in addition to being competent and unobjectionable.

Edit - apparently Richards only joined the show last year.  Well whatever.

I have no reason. He simply  annoys the crap out of me. Maybe a small part of it is how he answers the question (what’s [answer]?, regardless of it’s a person, place or thing.

Joe Buck is not meant to be a Jeopardy host.

So he was probably hired for the job, because Trebek had been sick for a lot longer than that I think.

I heard that rumor as well, but then I heard there was some twitter controversy over something he did on a previous show.  Who knows.

Joe Buck is not meant to be a Jeopardy host.

I'm all for bashing Joe Buck but I don't think he's doing a terrible job.  Middle of the pack at worst.

PS - bet you were getting your hopes up last night ;) :D

He’s not the worst. But far from the best.

Nobody is beating him until the contestants figure out they need to go searching for and actually get the daily doubles. If he gets all of them there is no way he loses.
I think he’s still at the point where no one that’s facing him has seen him on TV yet. They get shell shocked and don’t have a strategy to beat him. It’s going to take someone finding the daily double and then betting aggressively. He’s missed two relatively easy final Jeopardys recently.

But as it stands now, it’s over before the first commercial break. My wife and I actually get excited when someone finds a DD, and then they go and make some weak bet or don’t have enough money.

He’s repeating the Holzhauer strategy?

Richards has some skeletons, he was twice accused of pregnancy discrimination

So she's hosting the tournaments, basically?

Yes. Which is maybe all she wanted to do give that she still ostensibly an actor. Also, I am sure she made a ton of money from TBBT

at least the college tournament, I assume Richards will still handle the annual tournament of champions.

well, I know some space shot-types that probably could have used an astrophysicist more than a neuroscientist.

Wife and I both commented that her style was good in small doses, so this is fine with me.  I'm still pretty whatever about the big role going to Joe Producer but it is what it is.  If the last two weeks have shown anything it's that it's more about the contestants anyway (love 'em or hate 'em).

My guess is that's why he got the gig. Jeopardy is about the contestants, Richards is the one person who can fade into the background once the show starts.

And man is Joe Buck awful.

At least they didn't get that one horrible ESPN playcaller - imagine replacing the music in final jeopardy with 'and it's Jeop ep ep ep ep ep ep ep ep ep ep ep ardy!'
