Even with Dukes's 5 hits, he has to share the game ball with the bullpen.  They held the best offense in the league scoreless for 8 innings.

ya that was a great performance by the pen

Best complete offensive performance of the season by a National?

5/6 Game-tying HR, Game-winning RBI Single, Double, 2 SBs

He also walked once.

I'm telling you, Joel is going to be money.  We need to stay with him in clutch situations.  When he's on, he's easily the most unhitable  guy we have.  Big ups to Manning as well.  He has been great the last couple of weeks.

You guys want to know why we won tonight?  Here's why.

Yeah, that's me throwing a pitch in the bullpen this weekend.  That's right folks, I blessed our bullpen.  Enjoy the rest of the season.

Dukes is the most talented player on the team. He just needs to stay clean and keep maturing.

Dukes won't be better than Z.  Dukes could be the 2nd best hitter.  But Flowers might have something to say about that.

"Nationals pitchers allowed only one hit over the final 10 2-3 innings."

Wow.

They didn't show us. :?
They didn't show us. :?

What that fat stupid piece of garbage did was take the fake from the right fielder, who cocked his arm as if to throw to third, realized Meat was the runner and then routinely LOBBED the ball back to 2B. Meat, assuming the throw was going to third casually rounded 2nd.  Maybe he was thinking of Byrd's baserunning boner, and although I was sitting behind 3rd base I missed one key factor in the 9-3 putout of Byrd. Did Dukes fail to hit the cutoff man again? Because as I was watching the runner, I thought I noticed Meat picking the ball up from the ground and finding Byrd in front of him hung out to dry. Seems Dukes can hit his wife, but never his cutoff man.

Dukes owned last night and was one of the main reasons we won the game.

Dukes owned last night and was one of the main reasons we won the game.

Dukes did fail to hit the cutoff man on that play, and had a couple of rough moments in the field during the early part of the game. But he ended up making a couple of great plays to go along with his big night of hitting. Typically, he has been very good at turning and aiming directly for the cutoff guy. Overall, he has been one of the better OFers we have had.
