It's another one of those where people read somewhere that Murphy is a bad infielder and they won't budge from it. It will follow him the rest of his career. The reality is that Murphy is not a terrible 2B like the parrots like to repeat over and over again.

I also heard about his reputation for being a bad baserunner. What I've seen is quite the opposite.

I'm quite the opposite. I get my knowledge from I'm seeing, and don't really read that much. I check basic stats but not much else. I know that's heresy nowadays but I don't follow baseball for the math.

He's middle of the pack in the traditional stats. He's near the bottom in just about all the advanced stats.

I only caught in on the radio and didn't see it - how bad was it? Definitely think it impacted the outcome of that inning.

Not a blunder. He was being aggressive and didn't get there. It happens.

Murphy is a great fielder on balls he can get to. Of course you can see that with your own eyes. But it's his RANGE and AGILITY that is the problem. And you can see that with your own eyes. And the stats bear it out with a large negative in defensive runs saved.

Still his offensive production largely overshadows his defense, it just is what it is.
