Two years in a row the Mets have a major pitching injury just prior to the start of the season.

So fortunate to have them in the division.

The Phillies have a hitting coach in Kevin Long and an assistant hitting coach in Rafael Pina. Towards the end of last year they hired chase rate expert Dustin Lind because the Phillies had the fourth worst chase rate in MLB last year. In the NL championship series last year the Diamondbacks realized this and exploited it and from games 3-7 got the Phillies to chase pitches. This guy Lind is supposed to fix this.

So what does the former Nat hitting coach Kevin Long do?

Braves/Phillies and Brewers/Mets postponed tomorrow. Looks cold but the Nats will be playing sun sunshine tomorrow.

Friday sounds nice but windy, so it's good they generally leave the day after OD open for postponements.

First time Aaron Nola has not started a Phillies opener since 2017.  Wheeler is certainly deserving.

Another great start today and the bullpen blew it.

Three former Nats at the top of the Phillies order Schwarber, Turner and Harper 0-11 with a walk and 5 strikeouts. Harper with 3 of the strikeouts.

If it was Coles it would be 0-12 with no Ks or BBs and 12 weak groundouts.

Hoskins has a single and a HR in two at bats today.  Four RBIs.  After the dust up yesterday.  LOLMETS.  Luis Severino does not look good.

He's really gotten to the Mets. They pitched behind him later. Pitcher got ejected.

this is interesting: So far this season the Mets have tried five times to turn a double play with Rhys Hoskins at first. They have succeeded once.

Bryce took a nasty head over heels fall into the Atlanta dugout, trying to catch a pop foul.  That had to have all of Philadelphia holding their breath but he seemed to come out of it just fine.  For a guy with a bad back, that could have been a disaster.

Only fell on his head so damage was minimal.

Phillies lose again, Nats have sole possession of 2nd place, 1 game behind Atlanta.  Braves and Mets were rained out.

Mets lose 6-3 in the eleventh. Now 0-5. One more chance today to get their first win.
