Well I didn’t cheer against them. Or get up at 6am. That should count for something.

Wow.  Messi with two beautiful assists to tie it up for Miami.

Royal Spanish Football Federation cannot stop its drive off a cliff and into the deepest pit of garbage. FIFA suspends the big boss, and orders him to stop pestering Jenni Hermoso. Meanwhile, that Spanish Federation of Skunk-wheasels is threatening to sue Hermmoso.

And Spurs won another, 2 - 0. (Or 0 -2?)

Looks like Postecoglou is an inspired appointment - although not entirely surprizing, if you followed what he achieved with Celtic.

I'm not surprised at all...since I read all about Postecoglu after he was signed. I'm not sure why Levy went after the other managers before "settling" on Postecoglu. (Something like the Nats trying to sign Brandon Phillips after 2015, but "settling" for their third choice, Daniel Murphy). Too bad Kane went to a big team in a second-rate league, and Richarlisson looks like a bust, but Spurs are playing like a coherent team.

Apart from Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch FC..... ;)

(it's an urban myth that most games have ended before the home support have finished chanting the team's name... )

Spurs win again. James Maddison, "the President", was spectacular, and Sonny scores three goals. So far, Postecoglu has the team playing again...unlike Antonio "The Quitter" Conte.

Bruce Arena resigned in New England over alleged "insensitive" comments. So what did he say? Something deemed sexist or something deemed racist? I certainly remember from his days at UVA that he didn’t pull any punches in telling you what he thought.

WTOP had a profile of Paige Metayer, an undrafted rookie starting at midfield for the Spirit. She won Rookie of the Month in June and is considered on the short list for RoTY.

What's doing with Everton? The Guardian reports that the current owner wants to sell the team for 500 million pounds (plus 300 million in loans?) to an American group called 777 Partners. They are a Miami firm that has bought about a dozen European soccer teams, plus shares in an Australian team. They are a strange story, while the Everton story just seems sad.

Ugh! This 777 Group looks like they exist in hopes that soccer teams will become The Next Big Investment, maybe like crypto coins. 777 has collected a bag of last-placed teams and second level teams. Somethiong like the inverse of the oil sheikh that owns Manchester City and NYC FC?

Meanwhile, Spurs won an astounding game this morning (EDT): over-powered Sheffield United all game, a dozen corners to one, 20 or 30 shots to 2 or 3...and then Sheffield scored a go-ahead goal at the end of regulation. It looked certain that Sheffield U would wind their first game since being promoted...as the Sheffield United goalie kept falling down, calling for the trainers, and then having to take off his gloves and tie them back on, wasting five or ten minutes each time.

In desperation, maybe, Ange Postecoglu substituted on Andrade Richarlison, who had seemed to fail all last season under a contemptible coach named Conte, the coach who gave up in December. Plus a super fast young kid named Brennan Johnson, a Welsh (hurrah!) soccer version of CJ Abrams and the young Trea Turner. Johnson got loose again and again down the right side, coming within a leaning whisker of tying the game ("drawing level"). With all the time-wasting, the game was extended twelve minutes and Richarlison scored in the 98th minute. But "extra time" in soccer is not extra innings, so Sheffield kicked off, lost the ball, and lost the game in the 100th minute. What a game! (What a team...I happened to be in London on work about 1996 and saw a jaw-dropping game at the Spurs ground, White Hart Lane. That made me a Spurs fan ever since, no matter what disasters they call down on themselves)

Meanwhile, indicating just how good the LA Dodgers organization is and has been, a couple of the LAD owners decided to show how sporting-smart they are, and just how little they need Stan Kasten and Andrew Friedman and the rest, those owners decided to buy Chelsea. And to spend. and to spend more. Amd to fire their coach. And to fire their next coach. And to hire a place-holder coach until they could hire a full-time coach. And to spend more than anyone thought possible...about a billion GBP.

777 also owns Sevilla, which won one of the tournaments in uefa.
