Penn plays Kentucky at Wells Fargo Center. And they have Auburn and Houston back to back on the road. Talk about three beat downs.

St. John’s will be very interesting.  Almost a whole new roster for Pitino.  A few of his Iona guys as transfers and best two players probably from the Ivy League. And a top recruit. And a partridge in a pear tree.
Dingle and ???? from the Ivies?

Today marked the end of the AFL Regular Season - as expected, Collingwood clinched the MInor Premiership. Brisbane finished second - very important to them, as it ensures home field advantage in the play-offs. Sydney Swans put up a great late season run to make the play-offs, clinching the eighth spot on the ladder, despite losing to Melbourne - this avoided what would have been a 'not for over a century' event had they failed to qualify (as Geelong had already failed to make the post-season it would have been that long since both the previous season's Grand Finalists missed the next season's post-season).

The battle for the Coleman Medal (top goalkicker) wen't down to the final day, with Charlie Curnow (Carlton) becoming the first player since Josh Kennedy (2015 / 2016) to win consecutive Colemans.

So the post-season eight are Collingwood, Brisbane, Port Adelaide, Melbourne, Carlton, St KIlda, GWS Giants and Sydney Swans. Pre-FInals bye, next week.

The Crows had a frustrating season - good performances against the top clubs, but too many losses that should have been wins, and no post-season again. If we see more improvement, next season, then the rebuild will look as though it's going the right way - if not, then Matthew Nicks (Head Coach) will come under serious pressure. A real positive has been the return to form of Tex Walker, who finished second to Curnow in the Coleman, by one goal...

For those who follow the 13-a-side code, here's today's NRL Grand Final. Rugby League at its best. Aussie sport has given us two classic finals, this weekend... :D

Found the following on NHK World (Japan). An interesting mix of 'sumo explained' and 'sumo today' programs.

Final tournament of the year starts in a week and a half!

NHK World has a daily highlights show in which they show all the matches in a half hour. At the end they have a brief “sumopedia” spot.  The next day the half hour highlights are available on demand. It’s really the entirety of the matches. You just miss all the salt throwing and posturing in between matches.

Thanks for that, PWC - I'll be keeping an eye out for it...

The November sumo basho is nearing the end. Three wrestlers are tied at 9-2 and tow off this three battle tomorrow. Takakeisho is just 7-4 and his promotion to Yokozuna may be slipping away.  The lone Yokozuna Terunofuji is out again with injuries.

I did not know this but unless you are one of the top rankings when injured the missed bouts count as losses.  And then they bounce you down the divisions as the losses pile up until you return.  Brutal.

A bit of rasslin history last night as Sting made his final appearance after a 39 year pro wrestling career (he's almost 65 now).  In the main event of AEW Revolution, Sting and his partner, Darby Allin, retained the AEW World Tag Team championship.

The match featured one of the crazier moves that I've ever seen:

Somehow Allin survived and was still walking afterwards. He's now heading to Nepal to climb Mt. Everest in April (seriously).

And...we're off! The new Aussie Rules season got underway, today, with a departure from the norm. Opening Round has been split across two weekends - this week sees games in Sydney and Brisbane, in order to have an AFL 'event' in the two states which are Rugby League's heartland. So the usual season opener - Richmond v Carlton - isn't until next Thursday.

Sydney Swans played Melbourne Demons, today, in an entertaining game - a good one to get us underway.

Mike Tyson is fighting Jake Paul in July. I watched some of the Tyson training videos, Paul is going to get hurt.

No, he’s not.  These exhibitions are already decided.   Paul is garbage, buy Tyson will be totally gassed by round two

In his prime, Tyson usually was gassed by the end of round 3. It's just none of his matches went that long.

Takerafuji (not to be confused with Takarafuji) becomes the first debutante to win a top division title since 1914. Did it on an ankle he injured in his previous fight.  Onosato in his second highest division tournament finishes tied for second.  Youngsters taking over Sumo.
