Strange Plays
« Topic Start: February 16, 2013, 06:46:11 PM »
I saw a strange play today that I don't recall ever seeing before, a double play sacrifice bunt.  A runner was on 1b with no outs.  The batter laid down a beautiful bunt, and is pot out 1-3.  The runner reaches 2b, but makes a huge turn.  The 1B throws to SS and the runner is picked off trying to get back to 2b.  So, it goes down as a SAC 1-3 and the runner put out 1-3-6 between 2b and 3b.  Since the runner overran rather than over slid 2b, he gets credit for reaching 2b, which gave the batter the SAC.
