At least Davey mentioned the umpiring.

He didn't just mention it, he said outright that the pitch to Bruce should've been called 3rd strike.  Guess he's a loser now too :mg:

I'm not one to whine about the umps.    Watchin' the replays though, the umps were really bad   ...   some could say both ways.
Umps need to be punished...

You are technically correct.  The others were by 1 run.

:lmao: Nathan FTW.

I don't.

Loved 'em when I was working a night job.  I don't have any trouble getting through 'em but actually getting to first pitch is a challenge sometimes :old:

They're actually my favorite.

Late night ball is so calming for some reason.

Never said I didn't like 'em ;)

You'll have to forgive him, he was born before it was invented.

Love our no-quit Nats! Sucks not to get the sweep but that's our third series. Let's take a fourth tomorrow.

  • Ramos really needs to step it up in the field. The first pop-up bunt was a tough play for a catcher. The second was inexcusable. Put your back to the field so that doesn't happen.
  • LOL @ Desmond's four run error. Even if early season Desi isn't a mirage it's going to be a roller coaster to cheer for this dude for years to come.
  • I guess the umpires were terrible again? I don't recall ever having this many issues with umpires, and I really don't think it's a group-think bandwagon forum reaction. Obviously I had a horrible angle but that strike against Zim looked absurd.
  • My brother had to leave early -- he still plays and had a baseball game. Glad the forum is here to entertain.

Nice day at the park. I get home and this idiotic robin is still attacking itself in my window. smh.

Oh, and I love Jackie Robinson day. The video clips between innings were a nice touch. I'm just kicking myself I didn't think to wear my Brooklyn hat. :picard:

I had company today and wasn't able to watch the entire game.  I was thrilled when the Nats tied the game.  It's a shame they couldn't win it but 3 out of 4 is super.  The pitch to Zimmerman resulted in a horrible call by the umpire.

Finally back from a weekend in the field with my Army unit. Damn glad to see we took 3 out of 4 and almost got the sweep!

So I went to the game and then to the gym, so I just got home.  At my gym, I was watching ESPN and on Baseball Tonight, the analyst showed the grand slam, followed by a note about how Laz Diaz blew two easy strike calls right over the plate.  Man, everyone in the stadium was pissed.  I hope Diaz was escorted by security out of the park, and I hope we don't ever see the freaker again.

MLB TV was all over the blown play at 1st and the 2 strikes that the ump called as balls.  Really can't fault Detwiler too much - 5 runs, 1 earned, and the error on desmond was actually an out at 1st.

Everyone in Nats clubhouse said right things about umps ... on the record.

I'd love to know what they said off the record.

Me too.

And I've been saying this since last fall, but if crap like this happens during the one-game wildcard playoff, no matter who's playing, heads better roll...

“Ross did a great job handling that,” one Nationals pitcher said. “I guarantee I would have got thrown out if that was me.”

Strasburg, I'm sure.

True, another problem with the one game playoff.

We should just win the division.
