The Mariners really deserved to be swept.  This is punishment to all the stupid Ichiro fans who are voting for him to make the All Star game when he really doesn't warrant a spot this year.

Neither does one Dustin Pedroia, but douchebag Red Sox fans (not you SoxNats) think Red Sox Nation and everyone in it are the greatest thing since cheese pizza and miller lite.

Why was this not a save situation?

We won 6-2, a 4-run lead at the bottom of the 9th.  There can be no more than a 3-run lead to qualify for a save.

Great series. It's so much more fun to watch them when they are actually getting (clutch) hits and scoring runs.

Except of course if the pitcher comes into a game earlier than the 9th and finishes the game.

It's OK, I don't even watch the Sox anymore. I like him, but he should not be an All-Star player... I hate all the bandwagon + douche Sox fans. Half of these "diehards" don't even know who Nomar or Pedro are. I still like some of the players though, like Beckett, Drew, Papelbon, Ellsbury, Pedroia, Manny, etc.

I hate David Ortiz :)

Dr. Frasier Crane says:
"Get used to it, Seattle.  The Mariners really do stink."

and i apologize on dukes behalf for the careless error, but HE HAS BEEN AN ABSOLUTE BEAST LATELY! the average is now up to a very respectable .235 and climbing. he stole another base today, he's just been a monster!

no letdown @ the twins, we must carry the momentum to minnesota and at least take 2/3. i said a while ago we were due for one of those annual 8+ game winning streaks, this could be the start!

That would depend on the score. The only time the deficit is inconsequential, as far as saves go, is when the reliever records at least 9 outs.

Average, smaverage.  With 19 walks his on-base-percentage is now .355.  3rd best among active Nationals, behind Jesus Flores (.415!) and Dmitri Young (.387).  And he has 6 stolen bases (which is NOT a crime.)

I truly feel sorry for Mariners fans.  At least if they had taken one game they could pretend they weren't the most obviously awful team in baseball, but when you let us come to town, jet lag and all, and sweep you?  Wow.

A very respectable .235?  That is garbage.  A bunch of pitchers hit better than that.

considering what dukes average was a couple weeks ago, it's actually REMARKABLE but i KNEW the beast was gonna breakthrough when everyone else was relentlessly ridiculing him.

and like N2P pointed out, his OBP is outstanding.

The Nationals drew 106,634 for the 3-game series in Seattle, raising Mariners average attendance over 30,000 for the first time since their Opening Day surge.
