Great for Storen's confidence, but yeah, that was just an absolutely idiotic coaching decision.
No, it really wasn't.  You don't let the icon beat you.  I think we all would have liked to see how he would have handled Pujols (or perhaps, we wouldn't have) but I think when you're trying to win the game, he can't be the one to beat you.

Longest GDT of the year.  Next longest?  Game 1 at St. Louis.

That was a really nice snag by Storen too. Ball could have easily gone up the middle

+1. Very quick glove.

You don't try to win the game by putting the tying run hitting .275 on base to pitch to a guy hitting .319. Especially when you have a normally sound closer like Storen.

He couldn't possibly have beat us, at worst he could have tied it.

BS.  I don't care what the numbers say (Pujols got of to a LaRoche-esque start to the season, btw, his numbers have been on a steady climb the past month or so and has a knack for coming through in the clutch), Pujols isn't the guy you want to beat you.  You risk putting the tying run on and take your chances with the next guy.

This.  Though it's not an 'icon' issue.  It's the fact that it's freakin' Pujols.

The dumb move was St. L. stealing 2nd.

It took the bat out of Pujols' hands.
