The odds would have been a hell of lot better if we didn't depend on so many marginal hitters coming into the season.

You mean you're not sold on DeRosa and Tracy giving decent offensive production?!?!

MDS, you really have to ask? I haven't seen such a collection of guys who couldn't score since I last wandered into a comic book store with a game room.

Left in the 6th, came back just in time to watch H-Rod walk two consecutive batters to load the bases with 2 out and give it up to Votto.  Sweet life.

yup i was studying for an exam from the 3rd till the 9th when there were 2 outs with only 1 on 2nd

really hard loss tonight, but i'm not sure what's worse - 14 men left on, or H-Rod's implosion.  They certainly were equally bad.  The one time we get to Arroyo and we can't win.  Argh...

But he struck out three hitters on 10 pitches last night.  That's the puzzling thing - he CAN be really good.
Not often enough. We won't sniff the playoffs with him closing.

I would have rather seen him throw it down the middle and get beat by Stubbs or Heisey. But to walk them to face Votto is inexcusable for any pitcher let alone the closer.

The offense is laughable and so was Harper's blunder in 8th. But HRod deserves blame. Three times now he's blown the game after getting two outs in the ninth. No killer instinct. He doesn't have what it takes.

This team is sad. Ruined what would have been an encouraging 4-2 road trip and staying in first place. Momentum completely gone now. Time for a lackluster homestand to follow. The excitement with this bunch is waning. Zim and Harper aren't hitting and the bullpen is epic awful.

Left the restaurant where we had Mother's Day dinner and encountered a Reds' fan.  One of my grandchildren asked if he knew the score.  He promptly informed us that Joey Votto beat us with a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th.  Ruined my day! :hang:

Harper is going to make plenty of mistakes.  But he's worth having no matter what.  Eventually his mistakes will be few and far between.  Not sure they'll disappear from H-Rod, however.

We have learned:

- first batter shows HRod the good or HRod the awful.

- when  HRod cannot get his pitches, lowers his speed -- to about 96 -- and throws fastballs down the middle.

It had better effing not be a lackluster home stand. With the stretch we have coming up we really need to take 3 or 4 from the Pirates and Padres and win the O's series.
