I think something needs to be made clear.

Sportsfan seems to be the only one with the mindset that Morgan is expected to be something more than a Glove-First CFer who will move to the bench when we get a CF who can both hit and field.

does anyone here really think that Morgan is going to be some sort of superstar?
what? Everyone else here has clamored that Morgan is our everyday CFer and lead-off hitter.

I have said he is a back-up OFer since we have traded for him.

hell even Rizzo and Acta are passing him off as our long-term CF option. :?

I don't recall having called Bernadina a bum.
That's because sportsfan is the only person on this entire forum who ever calls anybody a "bum." It's his favorite word.

that's what he's here for.

so wtf is your problem here, outside of that his name isn't Bernadina?
because everyone else thinks he is a good starting OFer, including the front office.

why is he playing over Harris? I guess these games really don't mean a damn. because Harris gives us a better chance to win.

Stop quoting sf!

It doesn't help to have people on ignore if all their post are quoted.

Gonzalez can hit 5-10 Bombs with a .300+ BA with a full season worth of ABs. Lots of doubles too.

Gonzalez is hitting 59 points higher than Morgan. AlGo is leading the team in BA.

He doesn't have many ABs this season, but he is doing well. I figure he'll end up right around .300, and that'd be awesome as long he plays good D. He does already have 6 errors this season in limited PT.

No they aren't. Rizzo said Dukes will be back soon.

I had that problem, too. Pretty useless feature, IMO.

Morgan has better overall numbers when you add in the SBs. All of those singles become doubles.  And no, Gonzalez has no power. I do like him, though.
If you are going to count SB you have to erase the OBP with every CS (which would kill his numbers). Morgan is just not a very good hitter, and it is not like he is a 23yo with upside. He's defensive asset, but he doesn't get on base often enough. His OBP of .350 is borderline given that he really doesn't hit with any consistency or pop. With his speed, he is able to leg out a lot of weakly hit balls. The problem is that that doesn't amount to high productivity. He's not bad by any means. Just not all that great either.

Also, BA doesn't matter SF.

You've said that in the past.

So what is it? Is it important, or only important to Gonzalez, Nieves and Zimm?

that's a load of bullcrap and you know it.

Morgan is our starter for the rest of this season. next year, he's the 4th or 5th outfielder. book it.

oh, and Bernadina won't make the team next year. book that too.

yeah but I think those were probably a fluke. He has a plus arm and looks solid with the glove.

I wouldn't mind him being our starting 2B-man next season. Hernandez looks bad.

AlGo has 109 ABs this season.

I think you're the one that is dense hammonds.

You and Jmad keep quoting him... thus I keep seeing his post even though he is on ignore.

Not too hard to understand.

Here's an idea.

At 3:30 PM, ie 2 minutes from now, we all ignore sportsfan. This means everybody. Jmad, Ronny, Linty, hammonds, spider, me, etc. Just as an experiment to see how the Gameday thread environment changes.

This executive decree issued by the power vested in me as Gameday thread creator.

I hope you are right but by the way Rizzo and Acta talked they like Morgan's attitude and defense and think he is going to be our CFer.  :|

Someone has to play CF for us next year. If not Bernadina who do you propose? Morgan, Maxwell, Dukes?

as j-mad brilliantly put it ... nobody is calling morgan an all-star franchise centerfielder.  but let's face it, it's apparent our front office doesn't think we have anyone in the system that will be one either.  for now he's a stopgap, someone that will provide great range and a great glove in center, someone who at the top of the line-up gives us a running threat and a high quality character guy who brings great energy to the ballpark, clubhouse and field everyday.

no, everyone thinks he's a good DEFENSIVE OFer. which is what he is here for.

he's a better defender than Harris. that's the only reason he's playing over Harris.

with Morgan with can play Dunn in Left and Willingham in Right, without much worry.

and that is Morgan's whole purpose.

get a clue.
