Tousan is supposed to be the top player among the grad student transfers next year, or maybe they were saying the whole set of announced/likely transfers. May be the best player to come out of England, or at least Newcastle.

As for Ivy ball, they never get a power conference at home (except Penn when they play a Temple or Villanova at the Palestra, which isn't really an away game for the opponents), so their out of conference records against quality oppnents are always going to be tough, but they tend to do well in neutral site tournaments. Yale had Kentucky tied at Rupp in december 5 minutes into the 2nd half, and in the NIT had Vandy at Vandy down 3 with 6 minutes left. Cornell I think came within a bucket of beating Miami at Miami.  UConn stopped its series with Yale when Jones started to beat them, and they can't get a game against BC anymore.

I really want to see Harvard alums just say screw it and try to buy a championship with nil money.

academic scholarships for everyone!

FWIW, they all have enormous financial aid grants so they can compete financially for with athletic scholarship schools for anyone whose folks earn under something like $70K or maybe even more. There might be something like $6K of debt if they earn around $100K, but its the Ivies and that degree is worth something.

Sure, but basketball powers are paying hundreds of thousands in nil money. I just want to see a few hedge fund bros go all in for a year and try to buy the top 5 nba draft prospects

UVA has had so many memorable tournament exits over the last decade.

And a more memorable championship in 2019. How many have all y’all’s teams won in the last decade?

It won’t work because the top players will not want to play against an Ivy League schedule. They want to compete against the Power 5.

PS. Harvard has had the best recruiting classes in the league for years because Tommy has his alums doing just that.

I haven't checked out whether they allow nil in the Ivies.  I mean, there are a few Olympians like Gabby Powers and Nathan Chen, so I'm sure they are getting some sponsor money.

funny thing is, Lunardi had projected a UVA-Yale match up had Yale beat Princeton for the Ivy bid (he had Princeton as a 15 correct; I forget if he had them vs. AZ).  AZ and UVA might have advanced with different match ups.

Yeah. A championship is a fair trade for a bunch of early unplanned exits. Remember. UNC didn’t lose in the first round this year.

Unless they really like paying out settlements, they don't have a choice. NCAA was prohibited from banning NIL by the Supreme Court

From what I understand there is no ban. The schools just don’t use it much.

it's not really the schools doing it. Alumni groups have formed cooperatives at the biggest schools and there are various levels of cooperation between the cooperatives and the athletic departments depending on the school. I think for the schools that are really facilitating deals, a very expensive reckoning with title IX is coming down the road

There are schools with team wide deals for football- I don’t see how they hold up against title IX. The biggest deals are on the women’s side, but those all zero to do with the school. Meanwhile, a random backup guard at BYU is getting a paycheck

Found this article. Penn for instance does not allow students to use the school name and logo.

LSU has built its women's gymnastics on their looks. That's the Vuori woman who has been drawing stalkers and noisy bros to meets.

At least Purdue kept it close.  :hysterical:

I don’t think we will ever see a 16 seed win by 20 again. Like the DiMaggio record.
