Sorry, it was North Chicago a/k/a Great Lakes Naval Training Center, but nevertheless it was still flippin' cold!!!

Goodness that place has been around forever.    Pops was there in February of '42 for his intro to the Navy.

Latest models are all still in agreement with an epic snowstorm dumping up to 40" across much of va from Richmond to prince William county.  Snow from Friday into Sunday.

here's the latest GFS, the grey blob is 40"+

(Image removed from quote.)

crape, Loudoun could be in that grey mass.

When all the base closures were happening, they kept the sub school there and closed the like-new one they had just created in Orlando.

They turned the dorms in Orlando into low-income housing.

Heck, that map even shows snow in a county in northern Florida.  Is that Pensacola or is it the next bay over?

That blue area is actually my county which is just east of Pensacola but Mathguy's right and it's just going to rain, no snow for us :(
Man this looks like it's going to be a good one, everyone should post a pic here of how much snow they got!!

 totally not gloating I promise! I adore the anticipation of a big storm and then being in the midst of it, so much fun!! Now the days that follow a storm?  Those days make me very happy I'm a Florida girl now but before the storm?  Very, very jealous right now!!

Missus and I were talking about that the other day.    It was cold   ...  18 with maybe a 2 degree wind chill.   I told her, "This is why old white people move to Florida."     But I don't know if I could live there all year 'round.    I think I'm more of an Arizona person.

The problem with snow is that in a high-density urban neighbourhood with lots of dogs, it gets pretty gross after about 4 days  :spaz:

Make it easier for standing on the corner in Winslow ;)  haha that was very cool, I wasn't surprised a bit that you'd done that.
I think I'd like the climate in Arizona much better than here but I have got to be by water, I can't stand the thought of being stuck in the desert.  Even in IL I'd feel anxious and Lake Michigan totally looked like an ocean, but my mind knew better.

I prolly already posted this in some other thread, but Motörhead played the Bayou the night of the '96 blizzard.  Hauling my drunk-ass friend up Wisconsin Avenue in knee-deep snow was fun

When does it start snowing exactly? Friday afternoon, Friday night, or not until Saturday?

WUSA9 and NBC4 say it may start Friday afternoon but the heavy stuff should be between 9 PM Friday and 3 AM Saturday   ...   then all the wind.

NBC4:  "Bottom line, be prepared for the storm by midday Friday and be ready to hunker down over the weekend. Snow will impact the area through early Sunday morning."

Most men just shovel their driveways.

Well, of course.  In my case it can take quite a while to cover the acreage, but it's quite a workout.

This snow storm is simply a construct of the establishment culture and ignores my feelings and sense of self-worth.

Latest NWS forecast has heaviest snow west of Richmond, and only a high of 26". Still 24" or so in the metro areas. We'll see

Can anyone recommend a snow removal service for my driveway?

I've been have back problems and I've been advised to outsource this.
