Lombardozzi couldn't really play outfield, he was just out there. I know judging liners and fly balls can be difficult, but...

I don't know what Davey was thinking with Lombo out there tbh

So.. chances of an extension?

If Fister is this undervalued in the trade market, maybe he'll sign an extension for Gio money.

We'll probably be able to sign him or get a first round draft pick for him after 2015.  Either way, we can't lose.

I now apologize for ever doubting that this trade would be a possibility.

Told you. BELIEVE in the Rizzo.

I don't post often, but this warrants it.  What a trade.  This rotation is going to be deadly.   Essentially a close to David Price level starter and no real high level pieces going the other way.   Wow wow wow.

Doug Fister was a groundball pitcher in the AL behind a a poor infield defense. Hard to imagine his numbers won't get even better in DC.

Matt Yallof ‏@MattYallofMLB52m
The #Nationals infield defense must improve to maximize benefit Doug Fister's sinker.

FYI, Matt Yallof will be on Inside MLB at 10 tonight on MLB Network.  We'll see if this show is live or taped earlier in the evening by whether they discuss this trade or not.

This is a truly shocking acquisition. Frankly, while SS obviously has ridiculous  crap and JZ has shown a potential to be dominant they still lack a track record. Fister is like nabbing the righty version of Gio. This aint no Haren or Jackson. This is a ridiculously unexpected upgrade to an already strong rotation. WOW.

It's such a funny trade...almost like Dombrowski asked for different guys and Rizzo slowly talked him out of them one by one.

Like he originally asked for Espinosa, Clippard and Cole/Giolito and Rizzo gave him the homeless man's version of each piece.
