Or rooting against the Marlins' 'best' pitcher.

It's still early in the season but it's starting to look like a cocaine hangover instead of an endless supply of eight balls that Loria thought this would be.  That said, I used to really like watching Josh Johnson pitch but their opening night game he looks like ass.

If you spend a lot of energy rooting against the Phillies when Halladay is pitching, then prepare to be exhausted and frustrated.

Halladay is just amazing.  Phillie or not - the dude is always amazing when he's on the mound.

Halladay had a ragged first couple of innings but has just shut down the Marlins since then.

I'm happy to see the Marlins lose.  I hope they end up in the cellar this year.

That is possible depending on how you define a "decent life" however he is in the little league of evil compared to Hitler and the Osama reference is pretty tenious. Color me skeptical whenever someone starts breaking out ill considered comparisons. If I look at the amnesty international report from 2007-2010, I see people being imprisioned and beaten not killed or tortured granted AI doesn't have a presence there anymore. Regardless you are likely referring to circa 1959 post Batista-era events.

So he's a bit light on the torture, his real crimes against humanity are his imposition of a communist system that deprives its citizens of liberty, all the basic freedoms we take for granted, and most of all economic progress.  Just consign your whole country to live in poverty for 50 years, while you run your dictatorship.  What a cad.  It is a real shame somebody didn't put a bullet in him decades ago, things could hardly have been worse.

Yeah, I'd be ecstatic if the Marlins ended up being an all-time flop.

The Giants are having one of the worst pitching nights ever!  They given up 16 runs, 19 hits and the game is in the bottom of the 5th.

It is a real shame somebody didn't put a bullet in him decades ago, things could hardly have been worse.

I am not a fan of Castros' Cuba but clearly it could be worse. Cuba has one teacher for every 10 Cuban students, compared with one per 15 in the United States. Infant mortality is lower than America's and Cuba has twice as many doctors per 1,000 patients as the US. There is also very little serious crime.

Life can be pretty crappy for the natives of the Carriabean Islands, it is impossible to know how Cuba would have fared if the U.S. backed Batista regieme didn't fall but his wide-scale violence, torture and public executions ultimately killing as many as 20,000 Cubans which never bodes well for the future.

My point however was that such bellicose claims minimize the suffering of real people (victims of Hitler, victims of Osama, victims of genocide) and that that if you look at it objectively it is not so black and white. Cuba has been under a damaging embargo (arguabally causing or significantly contributing to their poverty) surrounded by propoganda from all sides since the 1950's much to to the deteriment of the Cuban people. To get out of the cycle, people in Cuba and the USA are going to have to cut the bullcrap.

they have licenses for people who want to get together on street corners and argue about baseball.  Seriously, you need a permit to engage in such activity.  I'm not sure if I like that idea or not.

Perhaps, I haven't seen any hard numbers around Cuba, but victims of terrorism and police states are fundimentally different. While Osama's direct operations may have a lower body count the extended impact of his financing schemes and terrorist training camps likely puts more blood on his hands overall. I'll grant you that would be a supposition that would require a reasearch paper to justify either way.

Yet I'd go back to my original point which was that falsely attributing genocide or terrorism confuses the issue. You don't have to exagerate or sensationalize it, he is petty dicatator who should be pushed from power. Adress the issue directly and avoid loopy comparisions to Hitler or Osama's sensationalized acts of terrorism.

I am sure I don't. Liberties has never been their strong point but still a far cry from "hardly have been worse".

Looking back at the first two games of the season, it doesn't look as bad now because both Dempster and Garza had good (Garza very good) follow up games against us.  Can't wait to see what Samardzija does tomorrow.

The two late games tonight are some of the least compelling baseball I've seen in awhile.  :|
