Knowing the sox, they'd finish the job of ruining Giolito.  Benintendi would be a great fit, and Dombrowski will give up a position prospect more easily than Cherington or Epstein, but I think they will snort at Gott and Perez, view it as Giolito for Benintendi, and think he's not rotation ready yet.

I know they have a DH slot, but Werth's bat probably isn't big enough for a DH role. Don't forget they have Hanley as a part time DH, too, as they juggle in Fat Panda, Shaw, etc... I guess your idea is to slot Sale into the Strasburg role, which is not a bad thought.  I think with Uehara gone, and I think Ziegler, too, I don't see them dealing a guy they just traded Manny Margot, Carlos Assuaje, Javy  Guerra, and a pitcher to get in a deal for a guy who may need TJS in the next year or so.  Plus $$.  that said, I think Swihart can be had and would be a good fit.  The guy is even athletic enough to play left or maybe an infield position if we went ahead and re-signed Ramos for the 2d half of the year.

This is the important part.  Strasburg is going nowhere this offseason, specifically because of the injury.  He just signed a large extension - far too large for someone who cannot start - and here is the list of pitchers who have had two TJs and posted more than one season of an ERA+ over 100 as a starter following the second one:  .

Tyler Chatwood has a chance to be the first next season.
