Gameday Threads / Re: Nationals @ White Sox, Game 3

Remind me - when did we last have back-to-back shut-outs? We're in danger of becoming the 'can't wait to play' team for the rest of MLB...

0 runs in 18 innings against the putrid White Sox.  Wake me up in 3 years.

Folks went a just a bit overboard on their winning record against other terrible teams.

This is a 70-ish win team at best, and most of us knew that going into the season.  Can't nag about things when they lose a game...that's what this team was built to do...

They are who we thought they were...

That’s not the relevant question. Team is not competing this year. Question is if he is ready?  And he sure looks like he is.

You can't help the team unless you're ready.  They go hand-in-hand.  AAA pitching isn't challenging him.  Clearly.  His development is best served being challenged by MLB pitchers.  Even "exposed" at times.  The sooner he gets "exposed," the sooner he can adjust.  And once he adjusts, he's going to be a star.  Being "Ready" now doesn't mean he comes up and dominates.  He may struggle some.  Still, it's best for his long-term development, and even with struggles, he's going to be one of our best bats and help win games.

I thought his reputation was as a solid defender.  I'm no scout, but I'm not seeing that with my eyes.

We need to have a conversation about Ruiz.  You know, the guy had as our DH in the 5 hole today.  Maybe the sickness he had is still impacting his performance, and if that is the case, put him back on IL.  He only made one rehab start before coming back up.  I'm not sure I even know what is worse, his offense or his defense.

seems the first thing is to use him less and see if he starts to get stronger.

the less you do, the more you do

of course, baseball being baseball, we'll probably score 40 runs against Philly.
