Tim Cowlishaw, the Rangers blog reporter, disses the Nats in his last few blog entries.  :?

If you think the Rangers are hard to watch sometimes, just flip back to this game on your Tivo. Watching the Nationals is like undergoing surgery without anesthesia. It hurts.

So what do you have on Vicente Padilla today. I'm going against the trend. Rangers have their best pitcher on the mound (can't believe I'm writing that, can you?). They are playing the worst team in baseball. Certainly, they've got to be able to put .500 in their rearview mirror today, right?

Haha.  That's harsh, yet true.

On Baseball tonight just now they were going over the managers who are next to be fired or on the "hot seat" and John Kruk mentioned Manny Acta.

yeah I saw that. if Manny gets fired before Bowden does, I'll stop paying attention to this team.

I am in agreement with Bowden first.  I may be delusional or oblivious, or both, but I am sure that some of these bone headed moves Manny has made in the last couple weeks would not have happened without the overbearing presence of Bowden breathing down his back.  That is not to absolve Manny of all responsibility, I just think guys like WMP would not be playing as much and we might actually keep guys like Mock or Clippard instead of letting them pitch and then throwing them back down to the minors just to let some worn out bums take the rubber for a few more games.  This morning in the post they had a pretty revealing quote, when Manny was asked whether Mock would be sent down after his performance, he replied "Thats a Jim question."  While not explicit, I think it shows that Manny really has very little choice in many of the personnel decisions.  Fire Bowden, give Manny a couple more weeks to show what he can do without the redheaded monster and then make a decision. END RANT

The Nationals got more bad news when Minor League first baseman Chris Marrero, the Nats' top hitting prospect, broke his right fibula and tore ligaments sliding into home Wednesday. Marrero will miss the rest of the season, Bowden said.
