Yeah because they're just gonna spend billions on a baseball team...his salary is going to hurt the team when his body keeps getting more and more fragile over the next 4 years and his yearly salary keeps rising. He's 34 years old and hasn't done jack crap for this team for the money that he's getting paid. Without Werth we could make a play for Giancarlo Stanton or someone better, but no one in baseball will take his contract off our hands so we're stuck with a C+ outfielder making 4x what he should be making.

Let's say we could have free'd up money to pick up a top notch Lefty out of the BP .  Owners still have an idea of what they'd like to spend on their team.  The money isn't limitless w/o a cap.     I like Werth, though...just want him to be healthy.  It's starting to run out on my trust on him, though.   He's a good team leader kind of guy...that's very important in this game.

Lerners have said in the past that money isnt an issue. For the record I am usually against big FA signings ( the list goes on for FA disasters) , but in that situation the Nats were having trouble getting anyone on board to get the team in contention. They needed a splash, it made more sense at the time.

That being said, the absolute zero production from any replacement player is killing us, and daveys questionable lineups ( why he has suzuki batting 8th all the time, his Danny in the 2 - hole experiment) arent helping either.

There'd better be moves made at the conclusion of this awful road trip.
Espinosa will be in the lineup tomorrow. Count on it.
 :old:
The "move" will be when he sits for the first game of the next home stand.  But he'll be back in the lineup the next day.

Hrod has zero value now.  His Ks and velocity way down.  Why are we carrying this albatross.

Hrod had trade value?

I met him last season on the field for a Little League Night with my son.   I said "Hey, Henry...How ya doing?"

He seemed so surprised that someone recognized him.  Does he speak English, maybe I should have said it in Spanish.

"Hola, Henry...Como Estas?"

I heard one team was offering half a bag of balls and a taco for him.

To be fair, Lombo isnt exactly killing it enough to give up  on someone who you have been developing for years.

I think Davey/Rizzo wants to give Henry every opportunity to WHIP himself off of the roster so that they can bring up Romero after this road trip.

Of course.  What's that, 10,446 hits for them now this game?  Compared to 3 for the Nats?

They are gonna say the same crap they say over and over again. The offense is struggling, hes gonna shuffle the lineup, thinks Zach did alright, team needs to get healthy blah blah blah.

Id kill for a beat reporter to push as to how long players that are killing this team have a spot on this roster.
