And we have the best record in the National League, pending the Dodgers-Giants game outcome.  Giants leading 2-0.
Stunning considering we are 4-7 over last 11 games.

The Dodgers have really tanked and so has the entire NL East really. The Giants and Reds have played well lately and aren't too far behind.

Let's all put Sportsfan's name into that "Dinner with Rizzo" competition so he can pitch some ideas.

With all the runs scored, DC area Papa Johns will have pizza at HALF PRICE Wednesday, including all toppings.  Mention the Washington Nationals score.

That's only because the other teams are terrible because we stink.

Good grief, what were those Nats up to last night anyway? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/26/waldo-canyon-fire-wildfir_n_1628493.html?utm_hp_ref=denver&icid=maing-grid7%7Cmaing6%7Cdl1%7Csec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D173558

---

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 42nd win, each season:

2005 - 22nd June (72nd match of season)
2012 - 26th June (72nd match)
2011 - 2nd July (84th match)
2010 - 22nd July (96th match of season)
2006 - 22nd July (98th match)
2007 - 22nd July (98th match)
2008 - 4th August (112th match)
2009 - 15th August (117th match)

---

THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: Sunday 26th June 2005 saw the Nats' 12-match home winning streak come to an end with a 9-5 loss to the Blue Jays...record now 44-31: http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250626120

---

Unfortunately, the Mystics let the side down with a 79-71 home loss to the Seattle Storm (aired on ESPN - Stics' only national telecast of season).

Tyler Clippard, Giant Jerk, Spits On Baby Ducks

 Barry Petchesky

Reader Curtis took in the Nationals/Rockies game at Coors Field last night, another Rockies loss. As the game wound down he walked around the stadium only to come along a duck family that had wandered into the visitors' bullpen. Clippard purposefully walked between the ducklings and their parents, Curtis says, and he pulled out his camera in time to catch Clippard spraying water or Gatorade from his mouth onto them, then throwing the remnants of his cup at the poor lost duckies.

Poor duckies! We would have thought anyone, even big tough pro athletes, would have their hearts melted by the cuteness of fuzzy little ducklings waddling through a ballpark. But Tyler Clippard is either a serial killer in training, or hanging with the wrong crowd and though taunting those downy angels would earn him some cred. Anyone have Tyler's mother's phone number? I bet she'd love to hear about this.

I just hope this explosion of hits carries over to future games.  Of course I don't expect 21 hits and 12 runs but just a fraction of that would be nice.  It was also wonderful that every single player hit especially in the middle of the line-up.

I got a kick out of reading that LaRoche told Tyler Moore he didn't have to embarrass him by hitting his homer further than his.......then LaRoche turned around and hit another one which put the kid to shame. :asplode:
