Nieves is a smart player. He doesn't have the most skill in the world, but at least he knows what he should be doing.

Just two weeks ago, the youth movement began and we rolled off 6 out of 7. Now we have lost 7 in a row and are in the process of getting swept in consecutive series.

Balester has thrown too many heaters tonight. He hasn't been able to throw his changeup/curve for strikes.

That was one effortless swing to put it out.

I agree.  Balester is not the answer.  He is way too hittable.  Bring up Zim, Clippard, and Alaniz and see what they have.

I've never been very impressed w/ Balester, but he does have the stuff to get it done if he can somehow learn how to control it. It all starts w/ his fastball.

as much as a Zimmerman fan I am, it seems like a quiet .300

.343 slg is pretty quiet for the face of the franchise

Bonifacio is an awesome/valuable fielder. I'm really hoping that he figures it out at the plate.

he's young, time and innings will help, its not like his screwing up a pennant run (mabye the Phillies tonight)

Out of 100, Balester has a composure rating of about 40. At least he's young. He just needs to learn how to put the negatives behind him.

EB is a strikeout machine.

EB is a strikeout machine.

It will be interesting to see if he can beat Howard next year. I think it will come down to number of AB, EB leads off so that should help, but Howard's lineup gets more hits so he may end up with more ABs.

This season should just be mercifully ended.  Take 41 straight forfeits!

We need the extra time to prepare for next season!  :|

If he is even close to Howard and is not sent to AAA, I will quit. He has NO power, NO walks. He could be valuable off the bench but that's it. As a lead-off hitter? HELL NO ... but let's wait. I still wanna see what Gonzalez has in him.

Nah, don't give Bowden more time to make some *awesome* trades. He hasn't brought anyone up. What youth movement are they talking about? Ayala is still on the team, Colome is still there, Manning keeps stinking it up and is still here. And I don't really see us improving in 2009 unless we bring up some big time FAs. We have no hitting in the minors (I don't really think Rinehart and his .280 average will amount to much but he should definitely be up here (can't be worse than these jerks), Maxwell can't stay off the DL, and Bernardina ... well, he deserves another chance).

Balester did make it through 6, tonight.  That's better than most of our starters have done recently.

Mock is nasty.  He needs to stay in the rotation.
