Braves-Red Sox ends in a 6-6 tie after the Red Sox batter had an automatic third strike assigned to him for not getting set in the batters box before the pitch clock expired. The count was 3-2 and the bases were loaded.

While I'm in favor of speeding up the game, even I wouldn't be happy with a game ending that way. At all. If you take out the 'wasn't the starter and pitched the last three innings of the game' rule as a qualifier, I'd say no pitch clock in a save situation. For the sake of both the batter and the pitcher.

apparently catchers are already trying to fool batters by engaging in chit chat and waiting to crouch down, they'll learn....

Today's Nats-Astros game ran just over 2 hours. Only a couple clock-slips. The Astros announcers made more mistakes just trying to tell us who was at which position for the Astros. And they ended the game telling us that Luis Garcia -- a 5-11 and 225 pound 1B -- was hitting.

The Red Sox shifted their CF into shallow RF today and their LF to CF. The shift lives!

I watched my first spring training action last night. It was nice not having to wait while the pitcher picked his nose and the batter scratched his butt.
