There are cap penalties for cutting people as well.
A silver lining to the salary cap penalty. Pass on this. Players coming off that injury usually take at least one season to return to regular form. Also, you'll have to pay a ton to make him happy. Each succeeding season, after another player gets paid, he'll demand to be paid even more money and will miss the entire preseason. And you have to give up a draft pick and Washington has very few of those anyway.

I agree. The cap penalty has made it impossible for Snyder to do his usual plethora of signings. Redskins have been forced to draft well.
