On a side note, instead of issuing maple or ash bats to their minor leaguers, the Twins are attempting to use birch bats. I assume this is an attempt to find a medium between the exploding maples and unpopular ash.
I just hope they make a permanent switch to birch soon so we can stop having to hear Bob Carpenter whine about maple bats.
