Nats to go to 6-man rotation

Joan Adon will be added into the mix, with the idea that maybe Gore, Williams and even Irvin can make it to end of September.

Seems like a good move. We have multiple guys who need to have innings managed.

Im curious to how this affects performance. Josiah's biggest issue seems to be a lack of velo on his fastball. I wonder if an extra day helps.

We had speculated about this earlier, first when we were hoping Stras would come back but more recently thinking perhaps Rutledge would join the rotation. The hairy thing about a 6 man rotation is going to a 7 man bullpen. One long, 3-4 guys to finish off leads, and some early guys / middle / trailing guys. We can hope with more rest that the starters will go a bit deeper, too.

I'm a little surprised by the commitment to Adon at this point. He deserves another start or two, but he was not all that brilliant in the minors this year.

Nats have two off days between now and the end of August. Little judicious use of players and we should be okay.

The big concern is avoiding multiple starts where the starter cant get out of the fifth inning

easy to fix. Just don't start Williams.
