The next three weeks will be a good test to see where they stand.
3 weeks, vs. the full 40 games? Is it the opponents that make you focus on the next few weeks?

Phillies, Jays, Marlins x2, Dodgers, and Yankees.

well, the NYY are a sub-.500 team as of a few days ago

The sunshiney thing about the recent record is a lot of it has been accomplished against contenders. Some blow outs, but Reds, Brewers, Red Sox, and a few others. The Cinci 4 game sweep before the ASB and the last Phillies series were the only drubbings by contenders, and we got revenge on Cinci after that.  Lost a series to the NYM and another to the Cards. Cubs too, but not a drubbing.

take a look at the first two index pages of the GDTs. 15-9 on page 1 (most recent), 13-12 on the second page.

Since June 25th we have won 29 of 49 games. I selected June 25 as it was the date the Nats ended their horrific losing streak.

They actually won on the 24th also.  Lost 15 of 18 before that per my count.

I went by the game log and I noticed that there were two games listed on June 25th but I didn't recall that we had a double header with the Padres. I was still half asleep and didn't bother to check it out. I did remember JCA posting that the streak was over on 6/23.

I had no idea. Had to look back at the schedule.

I believe it was just a typo on the date and it was 6/24 that we started winning.

The dates you pulled were the date of the last post, not the game date.  @ Padres game 2 had a last post on 6/25, but the game date was 6/24.

Nationals now 2 GB of the San Diego Padres and 8 GB of the NL Wild Card.

Over the last month the #Nats have played at a .655 winning % (19-10).

If they continue to play at that winning pace for the remaining 37 games of the season, they would finish with an 82-80 record.

up to #24: https://www.mlb.com/news/2023-mlb-power-rankings-week-20

Though the post above is very optimistic I do think we can catch the Tigers, Guardians, Mets and Padres . That would put us about tenth in next years draft which we would have been regardless IIRC from the discussions of the new BPA contract.

next 3 days will be interesting. We play the reeling Yankees. The Mets play the Braves. This is our opportunity to catch them.

It’s best to temper expectations for next year. Most young guys have lots of ups and downs. But hey how about Kieboom!
