Do you mean the Clippers?

https://hoopshype.com/2023/06/20/wizards-clippers-in-talks-for-chris-paul-trade/

Yes, you are correct, Clippers, not Warriors.

There are several reports that the Jazz are trying to trade up from #9 to take Anthony Black who has been on the Wizards radar for a while. The Jazz have the 9th and 16th picks. Maybe there's a deal to be had?

I would trade back rather than take Black.  Reports are Cam Whitmore might be slipping. I would take him or Hendricks. Haven’t really seen the G League guys or Thompson twins.

Kuzma declines his option and is now a free agent.

Blown it up good, real good....

That seemed inevitable.  No way they can sign him in a rebuild.

Not sure there is any advantage to another team. It only works if the player can sign for more years or more money with the Wizards who would then trade him. Don’t believe it applies to Kuzma. Should have traded him during the year.

Or maybe it does apply?  I don’t know.

TBH, if they are talking something 4 years, $100 million, I think that's very close to Malcolm Brogdon's salary over 2 more years. Celts are looking for forwards and may be moving guards. They also are willing to trade more 2d rounders and some depth / young pieces, I think. Brogdon would be flippable.

Everyone knows that the smart teams build around second rounders

Sure, and the vast majority end up never making a roster let alone contributing

That’s what you want so many lottery tickets. Let’s be happy Ernie was not around to trade their first round pick.  Tommy tried but at least it’s protected. The good teams tend to stockpile the second round picks and then use them in trades. Ted used to just sell them for cash.

You want first round picks- the kind Beal should have been traded for if the FO had a spine. The Wizards having an abysmal front office has been a constant for the past 40 years, and the new one appears to be more of the same

You have to accept that there were only two or three destinations for Beal and he had final say. Keeping him on the team and sitting him on the bench would further ruin the teams reputation. No contending team was going to have any top first round pick. It’s the fault of the prior regime for giving a decent player a super max AND a no trade clause. Give the new front office a chance. They have been there for like 5 minutes.

KP is interesting. I thought Kuzma for Brogdon made sense.

I broke this at the draft lottery post because what's behind the Wiz, it's not important.

I figure Gumball Rally is more appropriate than Enzo Ferrari.

Finberg on what the wizards could get for Tingus:
Quote
Pick No. 30 (via LAC)
• pick No. 35 (via BOS)
• pick No. 48 (via LAC)
• Expiring salary of Marcus Morris
• Up to 2 future first-round picks (via BOS)

If they are keeping Jaylen Brown then Kuzma is unnecessary.

Deni, at age 22, is the longest tenured Wizard.
