NHL 2023-24
« Topic Start: June 29, 2023, 12:01:16 PM »
The only real surprise was Carlsson going before Fantilli. Flyers get Michikov.  While Caps get the “Flyers” type guy Leonard according to the commentators. I have to laugh at those comparisons as the Flyers have not been the Broad Street Bullies for like 20 years. Also no trades was surprising.

Patrice Bergeron makes it official and retires. Great player who never got much publicity.

at least he got a Stanley Cup, even if it was a long time ago.  Wonder if this means Krejci is done too.

They ought rename the Selke Award for Bergeron.

Yeah I got ESPN+ for the year at $99.99 and can watch any NHL and various other events. Maybe if the Wizards were better I would be tempted.  I think they would be good on in the NBL.

I do league pass. Wizards are blackouted out so my kids don't root for them. I think leagues are training a generation of fans not to root for the home team and then they're surprised when visiting teams drive ticket sales.

Best as a parent to keep your kids away from the Wizards.  My son is in his 30s and has been scarred for life.

I’ve got one who roots for Stanford women and another who just likes watching curry. Being a bandwagon fan seems easier

But they miss all the agony and suffering we go through for a few brief periods of joy. Kids are smart nowadays.

Oof, wish they had given you a better result, but happy belated one to you anyhow.

I’m lined up in Seattle to enter the Kraken’s arena. There’s a church across the street with a 5:30 Mass and they’re playing hymns on the bells. Just a little bit different than the street musicians outside Caps games. They ought to move Mass up to 4:30—they’d probably get a decent collection.

I see they play the lowly Oilers. Should be fun.

Are you staying for the Commanders game tomorrow.

I’m in town until Wednesday afternoon (Monday and Tuesday for work) but am not going to the football game.

This arena is really nice. Team store is enormous. The two-videoboard setup is a lot less weird than it looked on TV.
