good game, way to pitch under pressure in the 9th.  Hopefully we can get on a little streak

That was disgraceful. He got ridiculously lucky. Escobar tagged that ball. Joel can't find the strike zone.

I bet Braves fans are fuming right now. they've lost like 6 of their last 7 and 2 in a row to the 'lowly' Nats.

he got the save - but a leadoff walk and then a hit to the 7th and 8th batters - this guy is no closer (yet). and if it wasnt for him and rivera, the Nats may be riding a 6 game winning streak with a 6-7 record. and if that were the case, we'd be dreaming of a better than .500 season. But we're just 3-10 and hoping for 60 wins.

it's a difference of 4 wins. We can still get near .500

and still have a chance to pull out the broomsticks?!?!  Lannan on the mound to finish it off tomorrow.  If he can get the W, it will have been a great series for the Nationals homegrown pitchers.

nice magic trick there Joel, but it'd be nice to have a closer that doesn't give everyone a heart attack before recording a save.

you know, someone who, when they come into the game, we just know that he's gonna slam the door and call it a night.

just sayin'.

"heart attack" Hanrahan closes it out in dramatic fashion!

good night Braves. break out the brooms for tomorrow!

don't look now, but the Nats have won 2 straight, appear to be getting things going, and gained ground on everyone in the NL East (i haven't lost hope)!

Right. He got out of it by luck and stupidity by the Braves. Two nights in a row he couldn't locate pitches. Every good closer gives up hits at some point, but you have to at least be in control. He looked like crap. And he admitted that he threw the wrong pitch and got lucky. He spazzed with two on and Chipper on deck. He has a long way to go.

Willingham's clutch PH RBI was the difference. Hopefully that gets him going.

I'm with you man. the lead-off walks irk me the most. Joel has to find a way to throw strikes more consistently.

Huge, huge win. I really think we are about to go on a nice little roll here. If you look at the Florida series..we could easily be on a five game winning streak with some half decent pitching from the bullpen. Anyways..I bashed Hanrahan last week, so I gotta give him credit for two saves in a row. I still don't think he's the long term solution at closer, but I guess he's all that we have now.
