Good strategy Manny - have our guys hit a ton of foul balls, give Cain just enough of a cushion after 6, then tee off against the bullpen.  Honestly, if it were 2-0 and he were at 80 pitches, Cain would still be in the game.

Speaking of strategy, I think Manny had Bacsik throw a meatball to Bonds last night just to get him out of the game :)

We need a huge rally. I just don't see it happening tonight. What a meager game thread in comparison to last night's.

BTW I think Bonds will be switched out this inning too.

We have career minor league pitchers because all our "starters" are on the DL.  If you can even call THEM starters.  Bottom line is this team is in need of a total overhaul of the pitching rotation and that's project #1 with this team for next season.

Alright, the Giants are on auto-pilot right now, time to cut into the lead.

I am surprised there are this many posts considering how bad they have played tonight.

And when I say overhaul I mean going out and shopping for some REAL major league names this off season.   :?  Don't be an Angelos Mr. Lerner, real friends don't let owners be Angelos'es...and we are your real friends.

Absolutely. We need Hill back ASAP to see if he can stay healthy for the last 6 weeks of the season. The same for Bergmann.

So you're saying what, 1, 2 or 3 fresh arms?

good cut, Ryan.. Looks like we are well on our way to tying our season low of 3 hits in a game.

I'm saying keep a couple of the guys we have now such as Shawn Hill, and let the other AAA quality guys finish out their careers in Columbus.  Work on the the AA level and below to develop.  Meanwhile, spend some money for 3 REAL name guys that can teach these other derelicts how to throw.

I think losing Meat has taken the spark out of the offense tonight.  I'd like to at least challenge the Giants tonight.  We've had ONE guy make it to 2nd tonight, and that was in the 1st inning on a steal.

Hill, Chico, Lannan, and Bergmann should be in the mix for the '08 rotation but nobody is a given at this point.  Everyone has to earn their spot.

How could Redding be such an idiot. I can't believe he didn't challenge Winn in the first inning. And the bomb he gave up to Cain was ridiculous.

I'm only keeping Shawn Hill of those four.  The rest are being sent down if I'm the GM.

I have not the slightest idea but had he not been so, so stupid in those 2 ABs the game would be 0-0.  Schneider has to take some blame too I suppose..

The 'pen has been worked hard the last couple of games - we've got a day game tomorrow and 3 more in Arizona.  Down 4-0, we can afford to think long-term when it comes to pitching.

DL bound?

I don't think it was severe enough for that.
