I thought many of you were ok with the shutdown b/c we were guaranteed NL East titles for the next 5 years+. Now that we are realizing just how difficult having a winning record can be, I'm curious if opinions have changed on the shutdown.
Not a bit. He was rapidly losing effectiveness anyway. We didn't lose the NLDS because of Strasburg. This year's struggles have nothing to do whatsoever with shutting him down last year. There is no such thing as "karma", and if there was,
good things would happen to us this year for having the courage to do the right thing for the player last year.
Trying to tie the decision last year to the struggles this year is moronic.
