You haven't heard the high quality gas/propane ones that run in a nicely engineered enclosure at 1800 RPMs. They are almost soothing.
I just can't pull the trigger for a once a year (at most) event. Almost, but not quite.
Most of the generators I've heard are so loud that going without power would be preferable to having to subject one's eardrums to that assault.
