Because you'd have to start one of the games at 3:30, on the east coast to not have them overlap. And that will tank ratings.

well, this one could have started at 4 and the la game at 8 eastern

I would guess overlap means they get the people who tune in for the start of the second game, while keeping the people who want to see the end of the first. Not sure how many folks who would watch only watch one, but it'd still lead to the maximum primetime viewing numbers for the Nielsons.

LA spent the entire season chasing SF, and then had to win a WC game and take out SF in a 5 game series. It feels like they cooked themselves getting to this point. Atlanta has had a much easier road to get here and seems to be peaking.
