Soto, unlike his more famous co-prospect Robles, always worked at his trade. Especially at improving his fielding and his base-running.

I heard announcers saying if Soto has a big year no way the Yankees can not resign him to a long term contract. The other guy said how many $30 something million AAV can they have.
Right now the Yankees have these guys on long term contracts making big buck:

Judge - 40 million AAV free agent 2032
Stanton - 25 million AAV free agent 2029 (ouch)
Cole - 36 million AAV free agent 2029
Rodon - 27 million AAV free agent 2029
Lemahieu - 15 million AAV free agent 2027
Rizzo - 20 million AAV free agent 2026
Stroman - 18 million AAV free agent 2027

Soto is already making 31 million this year. If he has a big year he's going to want 40 million AAV long term. That's only 9 million more than he's making this year so if he does have a big year he's not getting out of the Bronx.

Phillies have one more year of Castellano and Schwarber after this. So they could break the bank for a year and then have that money to pay him. I think probably the Mets or Yankees. Maybe Boston will start spending again.

Literally every team can afford him. Mets, Phillies, Cubs, Dodgers, and Yankees would be front runners.

Everyone can afford but 75 percent of the teams have no interest in high priced free agents.

Soto is different given his age/production. He's not a 32 year old pitcher looking for a ten-year deal.

Sure but most of the teams want to go cheap on payroll. Can you see Milwaukee signing him. I suppose someone might want to make a big splash.

I can see the Mets, Dodgers, and Giants at a minimum breaking the bank to try to sign him.

Agreed. And 50% of the teams have no interest in putting a competitive team on the field.

But every team can afford Soto.
