Wemby shut down for the summer. Spurs don’t want to risk injury.

Wish the Wizards had drafted Cam Whitmore.  Have no idea why he dropped.

BTW - Porzingis signed a 2 year extension with Boston for $30 million annually. Apparently he's wearing #8, which is one of the single digits the Celts haven't retired (#1 is Walter Brown, the original owner; #2 is Red Auerbach; #3 DJ, #5 KG, #6 is Bill Russell). Actually, they may have retired fewer single digits than teens and twenties. There's #10 (JoJo White) and ##14-19 (Bob Cousy #14, Tommy
Heinsohn #15, Satch Sanders #16, John Havicek #17, Dave Cowens and Bill Loscutoff #18, Don Nelson #19). #21-#25 is a nice stretch, as is #31-#35.

Edit - Loscy has his name retired. #18 is officially only Cowens. Loscutoff wore #18 as well, but requested his name and not his number go to the rafters.

The #8 I remember are Scott Wedman and Antoine Walker. I think Vega had an Antoine Walker LEGO piece.

Wedman. What a great player to have at the end of your bench. The early eighties Celtics were a fun team to watch.

apparently, the sticking point may be whether the 5th year will be a player option. Brown is in Europe on some NBAPA business so there's a hold on talks until he gets back.

Quote
It should be noted that this pause is not due to any disagreements or setbacks with negotiations. The Celtics will reportedly offer Brown the five-year, $295 million supermax extension that he seeks.

The only major holdup appears to be Brown’s reported desire for a fifth-year player option in his deal, according to Himmelsbach. Beyond that, talks have been progressing and both sides believe that a deal will eventually get done.

over $60 million a year for 5 years.  Nice work if you can get it.  I understand now why they call it a "supermax" contract. It basically imprisons the team like the facility where they keep the worst terrorists.

Big game for former Wizards legend Mo Wagner. Even out scored his brother as Germany beat Japan. Rui not playing for Japan.

Wow. Canada best France by 30. France is one of the favorites and runner up at the last one of these. Canada has some good players but cmon France. Will have to watch a replay to see how the heck that happened.

Yea. I see they have SGA and some others.  France may be getting old. They were runner up last time with just a few nba guys I believe. Apparently they need to up their talent.

SGA, Lu Dort, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, R.J. Barrett, and Dillon Brooks are all very good NBA players. I don't think they'll challenge the US, but I expect them to blow out every other team

You’re probably right but having all NBA players has not been any guarantee in the past. Australia looks like a very good roster also.

Watching a replay of the Canada and France game. France got out to a 7-0 start and still had a 7 point lead a few minutes into the second quarter. So from that point they were outscored by 37 which is just ridiculous.

USA plays New Zealand Saturday morning at 8:30.  Can’t expect too much of a game there. On ESPN2 and ESPN+.  All the games are on ESPM+.

let me guess. The 15 were on rugged inside play and offensive rebound putbacks? :lmao:

4-10’from the field. All threes. Also some free throws. His older brother is a guard and a baller. Too bad they could not combine their skills.

USA loses to Lithuania.  But makes the quarterfinals. Against Italy.
