DC has never been a big enough spotlight for Harper.

They cleared a lot of space. I'd expect a trade first. Probably Kluber.

Looks like Bryce to the Dodgers.

The big markets pretend to lay low and then bam.

Machado to Yankees too.

LA is a pressure environment.

If he struggles (and he has been overrated), it won’t be a happy go lucky we still love you Bryce like suburban, soccer mom environment DMV.

Oh yeah, he'll crash and burn if he struggles in the spotlight.

LA ownership won't protect him like the Lerners did.

I am confused about how much the Dodgers saved CBA wise. Heyman tweeted it's only 14M, but the total going to the Reds was 42M in cap space, and coming back only 17.5M wrt to Bailey. That means 24.5M is opened up for the Dodgers now.

Gordon Wittenmyer is the first to report that the Cubs did in fact meet with Scott Boras in Las Vegas at the Winter Meetings for three hours, and here’s the money quote: “Sources say Epstein urged them to wait before accepting an offer from another team until the Cubs had a chance to try to move some payroll off the books and check again with ownership.”

Dodgers released Bailey as soon as the trade was finalized.

I understand that was a condition of him agreeing to waive his no-trade clause...

Not sure why he wouldn't want to play for a contender making that type of money...

He gets paid the balance due on his contract and gets to sign a fresh deal with another team  seems like a good deal to me

Yea. They undoubtedly told him he had no crap at their rotation so as you say no risk for him.

Does all of his salary count against the Dodgers?

All except the league minimum that another team will pay him

It's the other way around. Homer was 1-14 with a 6.09 ERA last season. Dodgers unsurprisingly saw no spot for him in their rotation or bullpen.

Andrew Friedman (Dodgers GM) said Bailey has been released "as a condition of waiving his 10-and-5 rights," per Eric Stephen of SB Nation.

How does any of this affect the Dodgers CBA though? Bailey is 17.5M regardless, and that value still counts against their CBA. I've seen that 7M went from LAD to CIN, but I didn't think that changed CBA tax at all. Anyone more enlightened willing to share?

Imo LA is hesitant to throw all that money at him and he’s trying to wait it out while his less desired place Philly sits there waiting ready to overpay.

Didn't know she was on the market.  I don't really understand their culture though.  Who bought her?  How much?
