The hypothetical 10/$180 million probably has $120 million deferred until the next century so future owners can be responsible for paying it. Soto is here for 4 more years and then he's off to greener pastures.

Maybe Mark can work his magic and get his dad to throw in some only slightly-used Dave and Buster's gift cards to sweeten the deal.

Ah ha.    So it was the Lerner's who called the other night and wanted Dave and Buster's gift cards to get my son out of jail in Spokane.

they better use that 292 million that they are getting from the Orioles for resigning Rendon and Soto.

Juan Soto is going to get $300 million and I'm going to wonder if who ever signed him got a bargain.

Whichever Nats scout found him should be honored before a game.

But. That. Just. Happened.

I think this has surpassed Werth in 2012 as the greatest hit in Nationals history

I was there for both nights. I can vouch that the park was louder. And given what this franchise has gone through, the fans were much happier. It was kind of cathartic. Yes, I saw tears of joy tonight. What a crazy sport.

I've never seen a guy celebrating while being caught in a rundown haha.  Love the energy him and Robles bring.  Literally just kids playing a game.

He purposely got caught running the base to third to distract the outfielder from trying to throw out Rendon at home. Dude is so smart. At first I thought it was a bad mistake

Mmm. Not buying that. Rendon had already crossed the plate way before. Maybe that's what he was thinking but it wasn't necessary. He should have gone in to 3B with a slide. That's what Sendley was signaling. He had a chance to make it. But it's really nitpicking on my part. It all turned out well.

go look at the replay posted above.  The ball is already in the SS hand before Rendon crosses.  The throw comes home instead of towards 2d, maybe there's a play, maybe there isn't.  It'd be close enough that Soto had to try to draw the throw.  as for whether he could have made 3d had he not stopped, maybe.  But it was absolutely the right thing to try to draw a throw.

Yeah, still not convinced though it's not as clear cut as I saw with the naked eye. But my argument is that Sendley was signaling for him to get to 3B and slide. Oh, wait. Maybe that's not my argument. ;)

The speed of the game is really hard to judge from the stands and even more so on TV. So I trust Soto's instincts on that one.

He definitely was right to go to third, but I think him pulling up was pure instinct to try to get in the rundown knowing there would be a go ahead run trying to score. I doubt he knew exactly where Rendon was, just knew that he was trying to score.

Love it, thanks for posting that.  I've no clue how to post a tweet but Kolko's twitter has video of the MASN crews reaction in the 8th that is simply freaking awesome :)  I can't stop smiling today :) :) :)

When you think about the possible outcomes, the right move was to try for 3d.  If the throw goes home and gets Rendon, then it really doesn't matter what Soto does.  If the throw goes home and Rendon scores, Soto is on 3d.  If the throw goes to the cutoff at 2d for a relay to 3d, Rendon scores.  Only way Rendon doesn't score in the last scenario is if the throw from the relay beats Soto to 3d and Soto runs into the out before Rendon scores.  That out at 3d doesn't happen if he stops after drawing the throw.

I would be curious to look at Henley, Rendon, and Soto during the play.  Where was Soto when the throw went to the cutoff guy, what was Henley saying (continue to 3d or hold up halfway and get in a run down), did either Henley or Soto pick up where Rendon was when the throw was made, etc...
